About the project

In April 2013 the Lund University Board of Education decided to appoint to a working group headed by Åsa Lindberg-Sand (director for Lund University Centre for Educational Development) to undertake an inquiry regarding whether Lund University should provide so called MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) with start 2014. The final report from this inquiry was approved by the educational board on January 22, 2014. The faculties were subsequently invited to hand in proposals for MOOC-courses of high quality for launch during fall 2014. The three year long project should be viewed as a pilot with the aim of exploring the possibilities and limitations of this type of massive courses. During the project period each faculty at Lund University will be given the opportunity to develop a MOOC. On January 31, 2014, the Vice Chancellor decided to fund the development of the following three MOOCs at Lund University during 2014:
